Service Description: The layer symbolizes total carbon for the county as the sum of the Standing Dead, Above-ground Understory, Below-ground Understory, Down Dead Wood, Forest Floor, Soil Organic Carbon, Above-grournd Live Tree, and Below-ground Live Tree carbon pools contained in FIA data available through 2010. Note that the most recent year of availability varies from state to state, so not all data are comparable.
Note: Dates of the FIA carbon pool totals differed by state. The most recent data for each county entry were joined with county polygons to generate the GIS layer. States with the largest date discrepancy are New Mexico, 1999, and Wyoming, 2000.
